Second Stop : COSTA DE LETICIA (Alegria, Cebu)

November 27, 2009 by Edcel 23 Comments

The second stop of our “Couple Trip” is at Alegria.

Alegria a fourth-class municipality (annual income: P13 million-P21 million) 115 kilometers from Cebu City, is gearing up to become a top eco-tourism destination in Central Visayas, offering a wide variety of attractions, such as beautiful caves that are home to insect bats and other endemic creatures, magnificent waterfalls and lake.

more info

Getting there:

To reach Alegria, one only has to go to the Cebu South Terminal Bus where aircon and non-aircon buses are available every hour again bound for Barili. Another option is to ride a V-Hire (van-for-hire) in Citilink Terminal bound for Moalboal and upon reaching Moalboal Public Market, ride a habal-habal bound for Alegria (I would not recommend this second option as the ride from Moalboal to Alegria could take forever and is quite unsafe knowing bigger buses could overtake the motorcycle you are riding)

Alegria has a number of beaches that they boast but we preferred to have our overnight stay in a resthouse-like beach resort and spa that could make our vacation more relaxing and romantic, Costa de Leticia Resort and Spa.

In Costa de Leticia, Alegria..
Costa de Leticia Resort and Spa is located in Alegria, Cebu, Southern part of Cebu. It is roughly a three-hour drive from Cebu City. We first new about the place from a picture posted by an online friend on an online forum. Judging from the pictures, we knew right away that we had to check the place out. So everything was set and off we went. Upon arriving at the place, you will be taken to the reception area where you will check-in and the normal routine. Our first impression, the place is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

You get a scenic view of the beach from the balcony or outside the house. With a bamboo-laden pathway to the 10 x 20m infinity pool, outdoor reclined bed and outdoor speakers for relaxing music while basking under the sun. The infinity pool was quite small  but it was really beautiful. There are also other activities offered in Costa de Leticia Beach Resort and Spa. Among those are swimming, hiking, snorkeling, dolphin watching, boating, and waterfall touring, but we didn’t get to try these stuffs, you might want to try it and tell us how it went. The resort has free WiFi so you can bring your laptops or any WiFi-enabled devices and stay connected with friends while you are on the resort enjoying everything they have to offer.

Rooms. The room the we had was really spacious, with Cable TV, a queen-sized bed, enough space for extra mattresses, own cabinet, mini refrigerator with 2 free bottled water, air-conditioning and hot and cold shower with bathtub. This is by far the biggest room that I have been in, in a resort. The only problem I had with the room is the Cable TV because it only had 4 channels and the cable reception was snowy.  One thing to note though, their WIFI connection does not reach the rooms so you’ll have to stay near the reception area to use the WIFI connection. You can enjoy and relax in the tranquil ambiance of their own privacy under the shade of the spacious, exquisite, and affordable rooms. You can choose a room that is facing the pool area and the sea or facing the mountain side.

Food. The major setback about the place is the food. The food is expensive for our standard)s Tinolang Manok with 3 small pieces of chicken meat is priced at 200. Food offered at Costa de Leticia are delicious yet expensive. To save some moolah, you can either bring your own food  or you can have a 10-minute ride or walk to the market. You can also try to dine in at the Xi Shack Restaurant near the public market.

You can spend a morning walk from Costa de Leticia to the public market. On the way to the market, you will pass by their Municipal Hall and St. Francis Xavier Parish Church, one of the oldest church in Cebu built in 1857. Isn’t that neat? Though, I have deleted the pictures of my shots of the Municipal Hall and the church.

Here are panoramic shots that I took (click on the photo for a larger view)

All in all, if you are looking for a secured and private resort to spend for anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoons, maybe weddings, debut or teambuildings, then you can try Costa de Leticia Beach Resort and Spa. More cable channels, stronger WIFI signal strength and cheaper food, then we would love to go back to the place and stay longer. Surely, you will enjoy the happy romantic moments with your friends, families and love ones. The place is perfect for tourists who wants to relax, families and friends who want to bond, couples and honeymooners who want some intimate moments together or curious individuals who just wants something new. Enjoy everyone! ^_^

i know what u mean, i ride v-hire going to moalboal sometime and have to get out in moalboal,to ride farther in alegria by bus or habal-habal. better take bus for smooth and safe ride.

one time i take vhire with my friends from citilink. those vans usualy have 8 passengers. (1 driver, 1 next to the driver and 2 rows of each 3 people = 8)

but what they do, they add 2 more rows and in each row 1 more person. 12! its more than double than what is suppose to be.

there are even 2 in front next to the driver, how the driver have space to drive well? then the van is so heavy its hard to control for the driver, and it so uncomfortable. it is very unsafe.

then i rent with my friends (11 friends and me = 12) then supose to its 100 per head with 18 passengers = 1800. but we are 12, and we pay 2500. that is no good, not fair and not safe. take bus for safity and saving money
