Sidetrip: Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort

June 26, 2011 by Edcel 8 Comments

When we won the 5th place for Best Cebu Blogs of 2010, we won ourselves a gift check for a day stay at Maribago Bluewaters Resort.

Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort is located at Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. It is roughly 15mins away from Mactan International Airport.

We’ve been in Maribago Bluewaters Resort through summer parties that the BPO Companies that we have worked for organized and a couple of events were Cebu Bloggers Society is invited. We were more excited as we will now be feeling “alta sa siudad” enjoying the facilities while basking in the sun.

We headed out early morning so that we can maximize our day stay. Upon reaching the reception, we had to leave 200Php as a deposit for the beach towel. Good thing we bought a small amount as pocket money.Compared to the last time we were there, renovations have been done to the landscaping, specially the pool, and the pool looked beautiful. We took a short glimpse of the beach but opted to dip ourselves in the pool all day.

Aside from getting the chance to enjoy the amenities that Maribago had to offer, we were more excited for lunch. The gift check entitled us 700Php consumable on food and amenities. We wanted to try the Amuma Spa, but our hopes went flying by the wind when we saw the rates . So, we opted to pig out for lunch.

Upon seeing the menu, our jaws dropped upon seeing the prices. On second thought, it should not bother us that much though as we would not be spending a penny with the 1400Php consumable that we had (we thought).

We ordered for ourselves Adobo Rice, Chicken Pork Adobo, 2 Mango Shakes, and Moist Chocolate Cake for dessert.

The food’s servings were quite reasonable. We could have eaten the Adobo Rice alone and we would have been full. Served on a bamboo, it was perfectly seasoned and it tasted really good. Maribago Bluewaters Resort’s Adobo Rice is a winner.

The Chicken Pork Adobo was also another winner, if not for its sauce. It tasted as if there was pandan on the sauce which I am not a big fan of. Sheena did not seem to bother but she wished for another order of Adobo Rice instead of the Chicken Port Adobo.

The Moist Chocolate Cake was moist and chocolatey. Just as written. Need I say more?

Moist Chocolate Cake
For a world-class resort, their food were reasonable priced based on the size if their servings. Beverages are pricey though. We were not the biggest fan of their Mango Shake for 234Php each, this has got to be the most expensive Mango Shake I have sipped. The Mango Shake is overly overpriced. Yes, you read it right! Overly overpriced! I would go for another grammatical error just imply how overpriced that was.
Expense breakdown:
Adobo Rice – 290Php
Chicken Pork Adobo – 350Php
Moist Chocolate Cake – 180Php
Mango Shake (2) – 468Php
Sub-Total – 1288Php
Service Charge – 129Php
VAT – 154.80Php

Total – 1571.80Php
Consumable – 1400Php
Amount Paid – 171.80Php

If there was no Service Charge and/or VAT was inclusive, we would not have to spend any. Anyway, lunch was done. We were full and it was time to continue dipping in the swimming pool.

After a couple more hours, we headed home and we definitely enjoyed our stay at Maribago.
