Foodtrip: Pancake House

August 12, 2011 by Edcel 3 Comments

Aside from travelling, our other hobby is pigging out to whatever we can munch on. Just in time, Oakridge Business Park in Banilad, Cebu City opened up and housed are a couple of restaurants and a coffee shop. It was a block away from where I lived and passing there everyday and imagining how the food would taste is an agony, so we badly needed to check it out.

We headed for the Pancake House in Oakridge Business Park in Banilad, Mandaue City.

Pancake House, Inc. is a modern, dynamic, and ever-growing force in the casual dining industry today. Having built its base as the first and only restaurant that offered pancakes and waffles to a market accustomed mostly to rice-based food, it continued to blaze new trails and steadily developed its house of brands to appeal to varying palates and age groups since 1970.

Pancake House (Oakridge Park Branch) occupies two floors. It has a homey, cafeteria-like ambience making you feel really comfortable.

From the name of the place itself, we knew we were up for some really good tasting pancakes, but we were there dinner time and we did not want any piece of pancakes for dinner.

After a few minutes of pondering, we ordered for ourselves Hamburger Steak, Pork Vienna, Mocha Milk Shake and Banana Split.

The Hamburger Steak was tasteful, tender and juicy but Edcel was not a big fan of the gravy and the pasta that went along with it. The gravy was just too greasy while he was not able to identify what the topping was on the pasta.

Hamburger Steak
The Pork Vienna that I ordered tasted quite good but it lacked the “OMMPHH!” that makes you go “wow!”. The serving was quite big though and it was a plus.
Pork Vienna

The Mocka Milk Shake was an “OK” drink for me. Edcel loved it though and he could have consumed it all on his own but of course I wanted to take a sip to taste.

Mocha Milk Shake

The Banana Split was a total winner. Try imagining 3 flavors of icecream, topped with whip cream, cherry and nuts, with 2 slices of banana at the side topped with chocolate syrup. Stop imagining and here are some pictures to drool on.

Banana Split

Total Damage was roughly around 800++ PHP as Pork Vienna and Hamburger Steak costs 208PHP each while we have totally forgotted how much the Mocha Milk Shake and the Banana Split costs.

Overall, we were happy with our visit at the Pancake House. Servings were quite reasonable priced. We were kinda disappointed with how the dish tasted but we know for a fact that their name is the “Pancake House” so I am pretty sure that they have one of the best tasting pancakes, so for now, our tastedbuds will be left wondering how the pancakes from the Pancake House taste.

Until next time, Pancake House. And next time, we will really be trying out your pancakes and waffles! Promise!

** We are not an “authority” when it comes to food reviews, so it will always be best to check out the restaurant that we reviewed. Try it for yourself and enjoy! Happy eating!**
