Foodtrip: Dessert Factory (The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu)

November 22, 2010 by Edcel 4 Comments

After featuring our stops and sidetrips and getting quite a number of comments and followings on our travels, we are adding a new “trip” on the site. There is one more thing that we love to do aside from travelling, that is eating. In every trips and stops that we go to, we get to taste different food that makes our tastebuds go “boom!”, but the problem is, me and Sheena just lacks adjectives to describe food so we decided not to talk about food. Now, we have changed our mind and decided to try our luck at doing restaurant and food reviews.

Here is our first FOODTRIP, Dessert Factory.

As the name suggests, Dessert Factory specializes on…. well…. uhmmmmm desserts! One of their best-seller is the Achocolypse Now! But not a lot of people knows that Dessert Factory does not just offers desserts for their patrons, but they also have meals to boast.

We just arrived from our Manila Trip(post to follow) when we arrived in Ayala Center Cebu and we were starving. I wanted to feast on a full meal and eat a big cake after. Good thing I have heard that Dessert Factory does serve meals aside from the desserts that they specialize in. Just the place I was looking for.

We got ourselves Kinamatisang Kawali and since Sheena can’t decide on what to get, she went safe and ordered for herself the classic Grilled Pork Belly.

Kinamatisang Kawali is Lechon Kawali sauteed in onions and ripe tomatoes. I was intrigued with how Kinamatisang Kawali was described so I had to try it. When it was served, I thought they got me the wrong dish. The dish smelled like Lechon Paksiw (a.k.a Roasted Pork stewed in vinegar). On second thought, I think it was the right dish as it did have Kamatis (tomatoes) and Lechon Kawali.

On my first bite, I was not awed by the taste as it did taste like Lechon Paksiw but moments after, I felt the taste of the vinegar, mixed with the juice from the sauteed tomatoes and onions and the crispiness of the outer part of the lechon. The inside part of the meat was so tender I felt it was melting inside my mouth. Evey spoonful of the dish and rice to my mouth was so addicting. I wanted one more serving but I was so full we even canceled our order of Achocolypse Now!

For Sheena’s classic Grilled Pork Belly, she just has this as a review. “It’s tastes like Grilled Pork Belly”. How’s that for a review? 🙂

If you want to try out their other dishes, you may visit Dessert Factory at the 3rd Floor The Terraces, Ayala Center, Cebu. Just one thing to note though, don’t be shocked if you see people wearing clown and/or wizard hats, that’s just their crews.
