The Wandering Couple's Travel Fund

It was early 2014 when we booked a flight for Singapore for February 2015. The aim was to go on a Southeast Asian trip for 2-3 months and have Singapore as the starting point. All the plans had to change though, as late 2014 we found out that Sheena was pregnant with out first baby. As first-time parents, we were tense how everything would go the coming months while waiting for the baby, but it … [Read more...]

What's one of the most agonizing moments pre-travel? For us, it's waiting for your Travel Visa to be approved. We applied for a Visa to China once and got approved and Edcel has applied for a US Tourist Visa last year and got denied. We recently applied for a Japan Tourist Visa and have read through a number of horrors stories of a number of people's application getting denied. After 5 days of … [Read more...]

The Year That Was: 2011 in Review

December 31, 2011 by Edcel 17 Comments

2011 started out really slow for us. If some of you don't know, both of us re-enrolled in College so were caught juggling our time between work, school and squeezing a few weekends and holidays for travels. We started off with a short stay at Maribago Bluewaters Resort (Mactan, Cebu) in February then a trip to Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte by March to start off the summer of … [Read more...]

Cheap Siargao Resort: Ocean 101 Beach Resort

December 30, 2011 by Edcel 9 Comments

After the long journey, we finally reached Siargao. Our first plan was to stay in Wave Cave Surfer's Lodge and Beach Bar. When we told the habal-habal driver where we were checking in, he immediately discouraged us as it was almost 2 miles away from the surf spot. We didn't really listen and told him to just bring us there so that we can see for ourselves. The place was actually really neat and … [Read more...]

Sidetrip: Magpupungko Beach Lagoon (Siargao)

December 30, 2011 by Edcel 7 Comments

Magpupungko Beach is located in Pilar. It took us an hour to travel from General Luna (were we had tip-off point for our island hopping in Siargao) through a habal-habal. This was named as Magpupungko because of a rock formation wherein a huge rock is seated perfectly into a smaller rock. This is surrounded by limestone and granite sculptures and is facing the Pacific Ocean. When we did our … [Read more...]

Fifteenth Stop: The Long Journey to Siargao

December 25, 2011 by Edcel 6 Comments

There are a number of ways to reach Siargao. As I was scouring the net for promo fares, I was in luck when Airphil Express had a seat sale. I randomly searched for some available seats and ended up booking 2 seats bound for Surigao. I didn't really know much about the province so I researched and found out that it is a gateway to Siargao. Only Cebu Pacific has direct flights to Siargao while … [Read more...]

Traveling: The Super Glue That Sticks Us Together.

August 24, 2011 by Edcel 22 Comments

If you have someone that you think is The One, ..........Take that person and travel around the world. Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world, and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you come back to JFK Airport, and you're still in love with that person, get married at the airport. - Bill Murray Me and Sheena … [Read more...]

Sidetrip: Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort

June 26, 2011 by Edcel 8 Comments

When we won the 5th place for Best Cebu Blogs of 2010, we won ourselves a gift check for a day stay at Maribago Bluewaters Resort. Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort is located at Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. It is roughly 15mins away from Mactan International Airport. We’ve been in Maribago Bluewaters Resort through summer parties that the BPO Companies that we have worked for organized and a … [Read more...]
